I'm designing menus for the dining room, and printing them. They are in color, and will cost me a fair bit to produce, in terms of materials, not to mention the labor of designing them. I asked the Manager to get some prices for me, under the deal that I could, and would, beat their price. She gave me the final draft of the menus and said she would call Staples and get them to price it for her. After she got the estimate, her jaw dropped. They obviously would charge her more than she was prepared to pay.
Actually, I'm going to call a copy center right now to see what it would cost.
Okay. Bob's Copy Center could charge me $0.85/sheet X 400 = $340. That's just the raw materials, no labour. Well, I charged her $175, for everything.
No, please don't comment and tell me I should march back to her and demand more money. I certainly undercharged her, no doubt, but I'm not going to change the price. The way I see it is (and I know this is flawed thinking) that this is better than nothing.
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know...
This has been the culminating point of few months of me doing a lot of work for this place, without getting reimbursed for my time or materials. I think today I will draft up a letter outlining my fees, etc, to bring to the administration office. It's a very delicate situation, though. The Access Center (and me, specifically),being in this building, is a mutually beneficial relationship, at least it should be. My concern is that the benefits are slightly off balance.
Anyway, enough about work.
I've added
Little. Yellow. Different. to my links. I've been going there through
Sarah's blog for months now, so I figured I should link it. Short gay asian men are
funny.
Also, since my sister has told me that yes, I do have somewhat of an audience (ie: some of her co-workers read this, and are consequently in love with me), I will try my darndest to get back into this blogging-thing, and try to be, at least occasionally, somewhat entertaining.
